Tungsten Carbide Tiles for Hardfacing
Tungsten carbide tiles are designed to protect against excessive conveyor wear in highly abrasive processes. The tile was designed primarily for installation on the Sharples 3400 horizontal decanter centrifuge conveyor, and can be installed in most brands of horizontal decanter centrifuges with bowl diameters up to 24". Our tile uses a sintered sub-micron tungsten carbide material. This is silver soldered onto a 17-4 PH stainless backing plate and has a Rockwell average hardness of 93.4 RC-A. Since their introduction, these tiles have been installed on various types of machines and have performed successfully in many different applications. Conveyor contact surfaces fitted with Gulf Coast Centrifuge Carbide Tiles are up to 50 times more resistant to wear than surfaces treated with other materials.
The Tungsten carbide industry usually refers to this material as simply "carbide", even though the terms tungsten carbide and cemented carbide are used interchangeably. Tungsten carbide is the preferred material for the parts that must withstand all forms of wear and show a high degree of toughness.
